The clock
set per card scheme, and shown as days left
Adyen publishes no single number: the defence window is set by the scheme in calendar days and varies by dispute reason. On some reasons — services not provided, merchandise not received, goods not as described, credit not processed — the clock starts from the expected delivery date, not the transaction date. The Disputes page shows the exact days remaining.
reason code, as Adyen shows it
Yes, plainly — the dispute page shows the reason and the reason code. Adyen is the best of these for knowing exactly what you are answering.

the common misreading
The clock may have started before the transaction date
On non-receipt and not-as-described reasons the window runs from the expected delivery date. Merchants count from the wrong day and file a defence that is out of time.
Now build what Adyen will accept
- One complete document per chargeback is precisely the submission-ready PDF with exhibits appended in index order.
- Under 2 MB as a PDF, or as a JPG if the exhibits are photographs.
- Check the auto-defended flag first — if Adyen already handled it, do nothing and spend the hour elsewhere.
