The clock
none for you — Paddle responds, not the seller
The chargeback is raised against Paddle, not against you, so there is no seller response window. Paddle's Dispute Defense System gathers buyer communication, subscription history and proof of authorisation and files the defence automatically. On a pre-chargeback alert Paddle has roughly 48 hours to refund and stop it. That window is Paddle's, not yours.
reason code, as Paddle shows it
Not exposed to sellers in any documented form. You get a chargeback label, not a reason code.
Where you submit
- 01You see a label on the transaction in the dashboard, and that is all
- 02Paddle Classic shows a note on the order; Paddle Billing labels the transaction
- 03There is no evidence form and no submission route for sellers
- 04Paddle states additional seller evidence is not required or accepted
- 05Your lever is prevention and refund policy, not rebuttal

the common misreading
There is nothing for us to sell you on a Paddle chargeback
We are not going to build a file you cannot file. If Paddle is your rail, spend the hour on descriptor clarity and refund speed. Keep the authorisation records. Read this page instead of paying anyone.
Paddle’s own documentation
Understanding chargebacks with PaddleNothing to file here. The rest of your rails are another matter.
- If this transaction ran through Paddle, stop here. There is no submission to prepare.
- If you also sell on Stripe, Shopify or PayPal, those disputes are yours to answer and the file applies there.
- Keep the evidence anyway: your chargeback rate, not the individual case, is what Paddle acts on.
